This was necessary and will certainly have positive effects, regardless of whether or not they share many of the theses and diagnostics circulated by Eugenio Tironi. The roar and the aftershocks have been large and will be even better, as its author has not only been part of the ethos concertacionista for over twenty years, one of its major intellectual references, but because, well, you had to play a role gravitating in the design and deployment of a campaign that ended up crashing into the wall of a defeat without flats.

There are just many of the keys to defeat, but not all. It is true that Frei was a bad candidate, who was much more to the past than the future. It is true that the Coalition held a primary shameful, closing the door to debate and competition, especially from the generation of replacement. It is true that Bachelet and her government had a responsibility great to blow much of the management of its predecessor, without the slightest loyalty and commitment to the "work" of the Coalition. It is true that not understood anything that represented the arrival of Marco and Frei's command was caught by the force of an unstoppable electoral tsunami. It is true, finally, we were not able to understand the depth of changes in Chilean society and continued talking to the people of a country that no longer exist. All that is true, but certainly need something else: the underlying causes that explain all the "symptoms." Eugenio Tironi said these days that the main reason for the defeat has a name: Marco Enríquez. In that, at least, is mistaken: the main cause of failure was his own electoral coalition.
